Sesame rice/ Ellu saadham is one of the most favored of recent trending meals on earth. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. It is easy, it’s fast, it tastes delicious. They are fine and they look wonderful. Sesame rice/ Ellu saadham is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

The ingredients needed to make Sesame rice/ Ellu saadham:
- Take 2 tsp black split urad dal with skin
- Get 4 tsp white sesame seeds
- Prepare 1 red chilli (increase if you want more spicy flavor)
- Get 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- Make ready 1/2 tsp urad dal
- Make ready 1/2 tsp channa dal
- Prepare 1 sprig curry leaves
- Get 7-8 cashews broken
- Take 1 cup cooked and cooled rice
- Make ready Salt
- Make ready 2 tsp sesame oil
Easy and flavorful, can make quickly and healthy too. I had included ellu sadam in my aadi perukku lunch menu and said that I will post the recipe soon. And this is the right time to post, otherwise I will forget again🙄. If you have sesame seed powder kept ready, this ellu sadam/sesame seed rice can be prepared in a jiffy.
Steps to make Sesame rice/ Ellu saadham:
- Heat a heavy bottomed pan. First, dry roast the urad dal and red chilli until the dal turns golden. Transfer the roasted ingredients to a bowl
- Add sesame seeds to the same hot pan and wait till it splutters nicely. Transfer the roasted seeds to the same bowl
- Once cooled, grind to a coarse powder and keep aside
- In a pan, heat sesame oil. Add mustard seeds and wait till it splutters.
- Add urad dal, channa dal, curry leaves, cashews and mix until the dals and cashews turn light brown
- Add the cooled rice, spice powder and salt. Give it a good, gentle mix. Ensure the rice grains are separate
- Serve the sesame rice with some appalam or potato crisps
