In my home normally dhuli masoor dal was used and it does yum but after DH introduced whole masoor dal to me I have never looked back towards skinned. Masoor dal has a pleasant earthy flavor and is very common in Northern India. It is commonly used to make dal, soups and stews. Instructions to make Dal masoor halwa in my style(puran halwa):
- Soaked dal Masoor for about 1 hour in warm water now boil it well until it’s tender while it’s on room temperature using a hand mixer make it to a fine paste
- Take a wok add in ghee while it’s warm pop in the dal Masoor paste keep stirring now add in raisins
- Besides dry roast the cardamoms,nutmeg & maze blend it to a powder then pop it in the halwa
- Further add orange red food color mix it well keep stirring making sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom lastly add sugar cook till the sugar melts the ghee separates & it’s done off the flame burner
- The deliciously awesome dal Masoor halwa / puran halwa is ready to relish this Diwali this ur loved ones..!
