Yam balls is one of the most popular of recent trending foods on earth. It’s easy, it is fast, it tastes yummy. It’s enjoyed by millions every day. Yam balls is something which I have loved my entire life. They’re nice and they look wonderful.

Add the onion, tomatoes, thyme, chilli, spring onion, garlic, then stir in the egg and seasoning and mix well. Using a tablespoon, scoop a little of the mixture at a time and mould into balls. Mould the mashed yam into balls and set aside. Break the remaining egg and whisk.

  1. Make ready Yam (cubed)
  2. Take Minced beef
  3. Take Blended pepper, scotch bonnet, onion, garlic and ginger
  4. Take 3 eggs
  5. Make ready I tbsp parsley chopped
  6. Make ready 1/4 cup flour
  7. Get Thyme, curry, maggi seasoning and black pepper
  8. Prepare Salt
  9. Make ready Oil for frying

It is delicious and makes perfect snacks for any time of the day. Fluffy mashed yam moulded into balls with other deliciousness and covered in breadcrumbs before deep-fried until golden and crunchy on the outside. You either hate them or love them. One food staple we don't lack here in Nigeria is definitely yam tubers.

Instructions to make Yam balls:
  1. Boil the yam until soft (but not mushy) and drain. While the yam is boiling, heat up 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and brown the minced beef. Add all the herbs, spices and seasoning in.
  2. Once browned, add the pepper mix and continue to cook for a further 5 mins. Turn off the heat and allow it to cool down a bit.
  3. Mash up the boiled yam using whatever tool you prefer. You want it all broken up and crumbly but not completely smooth like pounded yam or mashed potatoes.
  4. Add the minced sauce and chopped parsley to the yam and mix until everything is integrated. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  5. Rub a bit of oil between your palms and using a small icecream scoop or tablespoon, scoop up the yam mixture into your hands and roll into a golf sized balls.
  6. Heat up a pan with oil, beat the eggs in a bowl and set aside. Coat the yam ball with the egg, followed by a bit a flour, then fry in the oil until all sides are golden brown.
  7. Drain on some paper towel to remove the excess oil. Serve with a side of chilli sauce or ketchup. Enjoy!
