Here we are preparing Moong Dal Badiya, all other types of Badi are made almost in this same manner.

The ingredients needed to make Tori with moong dal badi:
- Get 1 kg luffa(tori)(ridge gourd)
- Get 1 cup moong dalbadi(you may take gram badi as well.)
- Take 2 tbsp onion paste
- Make ready 1 tbsp ginger -garlic paste
- Prepare 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Make ready 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Prepare 2 tsp coriander powder
- Make ready 1 tsp black pepper powder
- Make ready 1 tsp mustard powder
- Get to taste Salt
- Get 4 tbsp mustard oil
- Make ready 1/8 tsp methi(Fenugreek) seeds
There are many recipes made with it. Moong Dal Tadka is a simple Indian dal made with split petite yellow lentils. Tempered with mustard, cumin, garlic & curry leaves this dal is also vegan! Moong dal reminds me of my time in Scotland.
Steps to make Tori with moong dal badi:
- Peel and cup cut luffa into 4"×1" long pieces.Keep aside.
- Heat 1tbsp oil in a pan.When hot add bafis and saute for 1 minute.Take out and keep aside.
- Heat remaining oil in the same pan.When heat well add methi seeds.Let the seeds blacken.
- Lower the flame add onion and ginger -garlic paste.Stir.Add 1 tbsp water and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
- Add all powdered spices to the pan,stir.Add 1 cup water and add salt also.Cook on low flame for 5-6minite till the spices are cooked well.
- Add moong dal badis and luffa.Stir well.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 10 -15 minutes.
- No need of adding water as luffa has a lot of water and veggi cooked in it's own water.
- Cook till luffa is soft.Serve with boiled rice.
Tempered with mustard, cumin, garlic & curry leaves this dal is also vegan! Moong dal reminds me of my time in Scotland.
