- Take 1 kg rohu fish
- Get 2-3 potatoes
- Get 2 medium sized tomatoes

- Make ready 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Take 1 tsp red chilli powder

This fish curry is a variation to bengali fish curry in mustard sauce with some add on spices. - Wash and drain fish.Add red chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt.
- Heat 100 ml oil and and fry fish in two batches.Take out and keep aside.
- Heat remaining oil in the same pan,add onion and garlic paste.Saute fot 10 seconds.Add 1tbsp water and cook on low flame for 1 minute.
- Add remaining spices and cook for 4-5minutes. Add chopped tomatoes and salt.Add potatoes and cook till done.
- Adjust gravy,add fried fish.Cook for 3-4minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve with hot boiled rice.
Bata or Labeo Bata is a very popular fish in Bengal. Being a fresh water fish native to India and Bangladesh it's favoured by the Bengalis in Once the gravy thickens check the seasoning again. You can drizzle a few drops of mustard oil just before taking it off the heat or add chopped coriander leaves. Else you can just make it with mustard seed paste, curd, or with Eggplant.
